World Series: still in Lignano, even bigger
Still in Lignano, still at Villaggio Bella Italia: the Italian stage of the Para Swimming World Series are returning to Italy, from February 27th to March 1st 2020. An edition that promises to be even richer in participants and emotions, with a placement in the calendar that makes it a key appointment in view of the European Championships and the Paralympics in Tokyo. The organizational machine has already been set in motion – indeed, to tell the truth, it had never stopped – and the journey that will take us to the week of competitions, the week in which the pool in Lignano will be filled with stories and samples, began.
“We started, yes – says the president of the Local Organizing Committee, Francesco Bettella – and we are aware of the importance of this edition. It will be one of the last opportunities to reach European and Paralympic qualifiers: there will be many of the strongest athletes in the world, and we have already received many requests in this regard. We are strong in the experience gained in the two past editions, and we want to improve even more: even compared to that of 2019, which had already represented a big step forward looking at what was done in 2018. We used to organize the World Series in summer, this year they will happen in winter so some logistical aspects will change as we will not be able to use the outdoor spaces. We have a few surprises in mind, and we want to organize something special to celebrate the resounding result obtained by our National team at the recent World Championships in London. We dominated by winning the medal, we want to do something to brag a little in front of other foreign athletes: do we deserve it, or not …? “
