This morning, at the Bella Italia village of Lignano Sabbiadoro, the press conference was held to present the World Series stage, which will be held from May 30th to June 2nd.
Almost 500 Paralympic swimmers will be present in Lignano, representing 33 nations. 246 of them will fight to get the pass for the September 2019 London World Cup and to get the minimum time for the Tokyo 2020 paralympics.
Alessandro Marosa, deputy mayor of Lignano: “First of all thanks to the athletes who will be the real protagonists next week, and to the president of the organizing committee Francesco Bettella for having organized this very important event for the second year. Lignano Sabbiadoro is the sixth Italian city in terms of number of presences and a series of important investments have made the sport become a very important lever, in which integration and accessibility are two words that act as a common thread and that make this place a point of reference in Italy and in Europe. Best wishes to all athletes”.
Sandro Scodeller, councilor for sport in the municipality of San Michele al Tagliamento “I had the pleasure last year of attending the awards ceremony, it is an honor to see them return here: I remember when I was a kid, and here instead of the village and the pool there was a boarding school. I would say that this is much more beautiful and fun: good luck to all, I hope to see so much public on our stands”.
Eloisa Bortolan, Villaggio Bella Italia: “I bring you the greetings of our CEO Federico Delaini, and after the many nice words spent on our village by all I want to thank the organizing committee for being able to bring us here, in our structures, such an important event “.
Roberto Valori, President of the Italian Paralympic Swimming Federation: “I cannot fail to greet you and the whole Federation for this great event, which boasts enormous numbers and will bring the strongest athletes in the world to Lignano. I had the opportunity to share the past months with the group of people who are organizing this event: a fantastic group, and for us as a Federation it is important to know that we have a reality like that behind us that makes us feel safe. On behalf of the Federation, good luck and long live the Lignano World Series “.
Francesco Bettella, president of the Organizing Committee: “First of all I want to thank the Municipality of Lignano for the great support that continues to give us, and in the same way the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. Thanks also to the Villaggio Bella Italia that hosts us and with whom we have been collaborating for many years, and that with its perfect logistics is the ideal place for our event. But I cannot fail to mention the group that organizes this event with me, and without which nothing would be possible: a fundamental work, very important and irreplaceable. Because there are so many variables to manage and organize. Thanks to all the sponsors who help us, support us and make this event possible. They will be top-level and very important competitions: we are approaching the end of the Olympic four-year period and these races will be the last valid to achieve the qualifying times for the next world championships. My thanks, with the aim of always improving and improving the excellent organizational results of the last edition, goes to all those who are there and who will be there ”.
Stefano Gigante, ISIS Latisana and Lignano teacher. Students will be present during the competition week and, with their concrete presence, they will help the athletes in all their small needs. “For the boys, this event is the conclusion of a journey, started a few years ago and aimed at sport and integration: therefore, we are the ones to thank you. And good luck to all “.
Katia Aere, Paralympic athlete: “We are ready, we must be ready: I am a Friulian DOC so I will have to hold up the flag of Friuli and Italy. This is a special, fundamental and beautiful stage if for no other reason than all the organizational work behind it: I know what these people are doing, they deserve all our commitment “.
Antonio Fantin, Paralympic athlete: “I play at home, this is the pool that allowed me to train and achieve the result of becoming world champion. Here there is the possibility of having everything at hand, in just a few meters, in an easy and safe space: and this is fundamental, it is something unique in the world. Thanks, of course, to all the organizers: also unique “.
Oliviero Castiglioni, vice president of the Italian Paralympic Swimming Federation: “It is a pleasure to see so many people, for an event that the Federation has very much at heart: this location allows us to really be all together and all together, and it is beautiful to see the presence of schools in our pathway to inclusion and integration. I thank the team of organizers, because they are the ones who allow us to achieve these results “.
